Updating to Windows 10 version 21h1

I have tried several times to update my laptop from version 1909 to 21h1. Every time I do it my laptop is rendered nearly useless. It runs sooooo slow its almost not able to be used. The last time I tried it it seemed fine for the first day or so but then it became progressively slower. So as not to lose the ability to rollback my OS I rolled it back after for or five days. Does anyone have anything to offer on what to do to make my PC work as it should. I've checked and rechecked drivers for updates and they are all updated.

Can someone please point me in the direct of a forum where I can received so help or where in this forum I can get some help? I am at wit's end. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Hi Georgedn_930-

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Run a system file checker to verify the integrity of windows system files on your computer making sure that there are no corrupted files on your windows.

Perform SFC Scan and Repair Windows Image

-This process will perform scan for any corrupted system files or integrity violation and will attempt to repair it along with the Windows Image.

    1. Open command prompt with administrator access
    2. Type each command below and wait until scan is completed.

    SFC /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Quick note: While the command is running, it's expected to see the process stuck at 20 or 40 percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.

Once you complete the steps, the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool will connect to the Windows Update servers to download and replace any damaged files in the local image for Windows 10 as necessary.

    1. Close the command prompt.

Also, kindly perform clean boot on your system, use this link for more information:

I would suggest that you post your question in the appropriate Windows 11 forum as a new post rather than piggyback on someone else's post.

Sounds fairly straightforward. But let me clarify one thing. Are the operations performed in steps 1 & 2 above done before upgrading to version 21H1 or after?

If all goes well should I expect Windows to perform normally?

    Thanks

Why is it that I have to reload Windows 11 every week and then try to have my laptop work the way it should? This is very tiresome and takes almost a day out of each week just to have 11 OR is this a ploy to get people to buy the Pro version. What is wrong with this so-called upgrade!?
