slow dell laptop

I bought a brand new dell laptop but for the start it was so slow

specs:

-cpu: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz

-gpu: intel iris xe graphics

  • ram: 8 gb

-disk: 1tb hdd

the first thing I noticed was the disk usage, it was 100%, so I searched for solutions on the internet and I tried the following:

-virtual memory adjusting (initial : 1887 max: 12288)

-disabled sysmain and windows search services

-unistalled all bloatware

-wait for updates to install

at first these solution seemed to do the trick, it boosted the speed of the laptop.

somehow after a while the slowness returned to the laptop.

when I right click on my desktop screen it takes 3-4 seconds until the menu that has the refresh button appears, and when I type in the settings search for settings it takes 5 sec until a letter gets typed, the only thing that works is google chrome somehow is super fast now(when I bought the laptop it was so slow, but it got fixed by these solutions I tried), I cant even do anything in the laptop aside from using google chrome.

if needed;

only programs in my laptop:

-google chrome

-minecraft

-vscode(was installed but I couldnt even type anything so I unistalled it)

-telegram

Thats it

    Good Day Azozfocus,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, can you please check what are the services and processes running in your computer in the task manager.

-Click Start, type Task Manager and open it

    -Click Processes Tab

Take a screenshot and post it here.

Also check the version of Windows installed in your device.

    -Press Windows key + R

    -Type winver and hit Enter

it will show you the Windows and build version and post it here.

I'll look forward for your response so that I can provide an accurate recommendation.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

thank you for your help, I got it solved somehow.

what I did is my laptop was originally win 10 home, and it was so slow, I got the option to upgrade to win 11, so I did and it is still slow, then yesterday I downgraded to win 10 and along the installation I choose to format my laptop completely and I also choose to not let them adjust the laptop when they asked me and unchecked all the boxes, and then somehow thanks to God it worked and it is fast, without relying in any of the earlier fixes.
