Word ribbon doesn't show the text/label of the styles

For some reason Word has stopped displaying the actual style title/label in the ribbon.

As you can see, the text below the style example is missing and I'd like it to display as follows

This has only just started and I'm wondering if there is a setting in Word that I have accidentally changed (I can't see anything that allows me to change the display of the styles)

This is discussed at some length on the Microsoft Answers site. I provide a couple of (unsatisfactory IMO) workarounds.

I discuss a custom ribbon tab and adding things to your Quick Action Toolbar. It is very important that you leave feedback, though.
If you are using Office 365 on Windows 10, you may be able to roll this back, at least for a bit. This is discussed in the linked thread.

It's a bug in the most recent update. Choose File>Feedback>Send a Frown, and describe the problem. If you set up a page with your images, you can include a screen shot as well. Submitting sends a bug report to the Word programming team. Don't expect a reply.

Thanks. At least I know why the problem exists (i.e. not a user error/change on my part). Here's hoping MS will sort it out soon.

Could you please go to File > Account > Product Information, then share us with your Office version name and Office version number?

You could also try to perform an Online Repair for Office from Contral Panel.

Thanks - I've tried the quick repair but that didn't work. I'll try the full one and see how that goes.

I have Office Professional Plus 2016.

The File > Account > Product Information screen shows the version as
Version 2110 (Build 14527.20276 Click-to-Run)

However, clicking the 'About Word' button gives the following version information (different final number):
Word 2016 MSO (Version 2110 Build 16.0.14527.20234) 32-bit

Thanks for your sharing.
Currently, I would suggest you refer to CharlesKenyon-8472 suggestions as a workaround.

Besides, here is a new way to submit feedback: The Feedback web portal, you could also try this way to let the Word developers hear you.
