Realtek Audio Console not detecting headphones

I have been using an Acer Aspire 5 (A515-52G) Laptop for a couple of years now and have constantly been annoyed by Realtek Audio Console. On many occasions the connector retasking menu just doesn't work (as shown in the image) and I can't use my headphones even if they are connected to the 3.5mm port. But even so a reboot would fix it everytime.

But this time even rebooting doesn't seem to fix the issue. I have tried all the standard workarounds including a complete power down and up, updating the drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and restoring the realtek drivers back to the stock versions from acer's website. It still doesn't recognise when I plug in my headphones and keeps playing audio from the speakers. The headphones themselves are working just fine with my other devices so it's either realtek or a hardware issue with my laptop's 3.5mm port. Wanted to know if someone else has encountered this issue in the past and figured out a way to fix it before or should I just go ahead and buy a usb sound card.

First, try to check if the headphones works using other device for us to check if the issue is with the computer or the headphones itself.

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controller

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

    -Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

    -Select Sound.

    -Select the Recording tab

-Right click and hit show Disabled Device

-Right click the Headphone and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click Headphone and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

    -Click OK

    -Click Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow application to take exclusive control on this device"

    Restart and check the headphone.

If issue persist, proceed with these steps.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

Thank you very much for the help. Unfortunately the issue still hasn't been resolved. I'm guessing that it's not a software issue and the port itself has been damaged somehow because Ubuntu also fails to recognise my headphones being plugged in. Will have to go with an adapter after all.
