Moving Windows licenses between two computers

I am wondering if it is possible to transfer a Windows 10 Pro license that I purchased as an upgrade to an OEM Windows license to another computer with a Windows 11 OEM Home version. Then move the Home version to the computer currently running Pro. On both computers the license activation description says "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account".

    Hello,

First, re-check the type of license installed on your system that you want to transfer.

    1. Open administrative Command Prompt.
    2. Type slmgr /dlv and press Enter key.
    3. Note the Product Key Channel section Windows Script Host box:

If it mentions OEM <method>, you’ve OEM license installed.

If it says Retail, you’ve retail license installed.

If it mentions GVLK, VOLUME_<method> then you’ve volume license installed. Note that GVLK stands for Generic Volume License Key.

Retail license have the transfer rights, while OEM license is tied to motherboard and can't be transferred to other machine.

Refer this guide to learn how to transfer your license:

    Good Day AMarc7,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 11 pc and community member like you.

You can transfer the Windows 11 Pro license to a different device because its is a Retail version , however the Windows 11 Home OEM is not transferrable, you cannot transfer the license to a different device becuase the licese is tied up with the motherboard.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
