Choosing Wifi Direct Connection Mode ax/a/b/g/n/ac on Microsoft Wifi Virtual Adapter Driver

Hi,

I'm using Windows 11, Asus Rog Pc and my wifi card is Mediatek MT7921,

i' ve searched everywhere on internet but did not find any answer about my question.

I want to control or change the connection mode on the virtual adapter while connecting my computer to the television with miracast and wifi direct connection. I think the virtual adapter gets this setting from the wifi card, but for example, if I'm having problems in n mode, I want to switch it to a mode manually, how can I do that?

For example: While surfing the internet in 2.4 ghz band on "n" wireless mode, I am trying to make a wifi direct connection with the tv in "a" mode in the 5 ghz band, but microsoft wifi adapter automatically connects to the tv in "n" mode at 5 ghz, please let me know how to set it manually, I would appreciate it?

    Hi Mara,

I'm not happy at all that you cut the subject off. And I want you to know that this is pointless. As a good computer user and customer of microsoft, I think I have the right to know how to do this manually. Because while there is no problem in wireless direct connection in a radio band, this time my internet speed drops. I want to connect to the internet in n or ac, ax radio band and make wireless direct connection with tv in a b g mode.

    Regards

    Hi ErdalKaplan2,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

I hope you are doing well. We really appreciate your time in bringing this concern to us.

Below are the steps on how to preferred band for wireless network adapters. However, this may vary depending on your wireless network adapter.

    Here's how to change it:

    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Network adapters, select your wireless network adapters.
    3. Double-click to open the Adapter Properties.
    4. Click on the Advancedtab. Click on Preferred band.
    5. Click the drop-down box and try 2.4 or 5.

If you don't have an option to choose Preferred band, select Wireless mode instead.

Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Best regards,  Mara May MMicrosoft Community Advocate

    Hello ErdalKaplan2,

    Thank you for correcting.

We have replicated this concern here in our end, and found out that we can only change the band but not the wireless mode in Windows since it is assigned automatically.

We highly suggest to send a feedback or suggestions to help us improve your Windows experience by following the steps on this link: Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app
