Windows 10 Explorer Folder Properties Tabs Missing

Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1348):

On one PC, when I display the properties sheet for a folder, only two tabs appear: "General" and "Previous Versions", instead of "General", "Sharing", "Security", "Previous Versions", and "Customize". I have attached screen shots to illustrate this. This happens on only one PC in my LAN (illustrated by the first screenshot below); the other PCs behave normally (illustrated by the second screenshot below). There are no problems with properties sheets for files, only for folders.

This began three days ago. I first noticed it after installing Mozilla Thunderbird earlier that day.

What I have tried so far to remedy this:

1.

I ran gpedit.msc as admin and located:

Local Computer Policy |

User Configuration |

Administrative Templates |

Windows Components |

File Explorer

Then I observed that all items there had State: Not configured.

Then I changed the "Remove Security tab" item's state to Disabled.

Then I restarted the PC.

This did not solve the problem.

2.

I ran (as administrator) sfc /scannow.

Then I restarted the PC.

This did not solve the problem.

3.

To get the scope of the problem.

I created a new Windows account.

Folder properties in the new account had the same problem.

4.

I performed a System Restore to a restore point created several days ago (which was prior to the appearance of the problem).

This did restore the system to before the Thunderbird installation but did not solve the problem.

I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem.

Greg, in an attempt to solve the missing Security tab, I followed this link:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1522576/windows-10-security-tab-missing-from-file-properties

The suggestions there did not restore the missing Security tab for folders.

    I then found this:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1454094/windows-7-how-to-restore-the-security-tab-on-folders-if-gone-missing

The suggestion about adding the {1F2E5C40-9550-11CE-99D2-00AA006E086C} sub-key worked! So, my problem is now completely solved!!! The property tabs for folders have now been completely restored. I do observe that the order of the tabs has been altered: Customize is no longer last, but appears before Previous Versions. That fact seems unimportant. Here is a screen shot of the restored properties sheet:

Many, many thanks and more gratitude than I can properly express, Greg.

I note on another Windows 10 PC (and I'm guessing all or most), these keys in Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers

are already present plus a few more - specifically:

    {4a7ded0a-ad25-11d0-98a8-0800361b1103} and

    {596AB062-B4D2-4215-9F74-E9109B0A8153} and

    {ECCDF543-45CC-11CE-B9BF-0080C87CDBA6}.

On a final note, do you have any ideas as to how this problem originated? That asked, the solution is what's important. You and I have both been in this business long enough to know that chasing down the cause of every problem is not productive nor is it worth the effort required.

Greg: I did not follow the fourth link: https://thegeekpage.com/fix-sharing-tab-is-miss... because it was again about restoring the Sharing tab (which I noted in my previous post was already fixed), and also the steps seemed the same as in the previous (third) link.

    The fifth link:

    https://www.winhelponline.com/xp/customizetab.htm

restored the missing Customize tab! Adding the sub-key:

    {ef43ecfe-2ab9-4632-bf21-58909dd177f0}

    did the trick.

    The sixth link:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SaqpHO3EP4

dealt with restoring the Customize tab, which I had already accomplished.

So now I am left with recovering the missing Security tab. Great progress!

Greg: Partial success! I followed the third link you posted:

    https://techcult.com/fix-sharing-tab-is-missing...

    "Method 1: Registry Fix"

restored the Sharing tab for folders. The Security and Customize tabs are still missing.

Methods 2, 3, and 4 did not restore any additional tabs. In each case the settings were already as recommended.
