I swapped the DVD drive for another one and the DVD discs burn fine now, so I guess it was hardware failure. Many thanks for your help and assistance.,
Can't burn DVDs
Hi,
I'm trying to back-up some of my photos onto DVDs which I do periodically, (most recently about six months ago), but the process has repeatedly failed today. I've tried BurnAware Free, Ashampoo Burning Studio and doing it through Windows Explorer, but they have all failed to write a single disc so far. I've tried burning different files also but still get the same failure.
Is there a problem with Windows 10 and burning DVDs? I'm just downloading the latest Windows updates now.

2021-11-24T18:34:24+00:00 Dear StrikeEagle492,in this case it could be that your DVD player/recorder is reaching the end of its useful life or it could also be a problem with the DVD's-R;
What program are you using for recording?
I recommend that you try using ImgBurn:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fhN4oxa3BI
Check if you can burn DVD's with this program;

2021-11-24T15:20:36+00:00 Dear StrikeEagle492,Let me get this straight, when trying to record to DVD -RW Philips did it work?
If with DVD-RW Philips it worked, it's probably a physical problem with DVD's;
If the burning didn't work on any DVDs it could be a physical problem with your burner;
Go to the device manager and click (>) next to DVD/CDo Drives;
Let me know the exact model of your DVD player;
I await news, see you soon!

I'm Running Windows 10 Home, Version 21H2, build 19044.1348
I've tried nine times today to burn DVD-Rs (Maxell 275733) and all of them have failed part-way through the burning process. I also tried burning the same data to a Philips DVD+RW and that worked OK?
There are no error messages when I start the burning process and all the files pass the pre-burning file check, it starts to write to the disc and then after a minute or two fails, aborts the process and gives me a generic message about a write error.
Edit - I have just tried again using a Tesco DVD-R and that has failed just like the Maxell discs have. Here's the info from BurnAware:

I understand that you are not able to burn DvD's on Windows 10;
When you try to start the burning process, do you get any message or error code?
What version and build of Windows is installed?
To find out which one, go to the search bar and type: winver press Enter;
The version and build of the system will be displayed;
Have you tried burning with the other DVD's or just one?
I await news, see you soon!
