HP Printer Officejet pro 8600 Plus and Microsoft Windows 10 Updates

Hello,

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer appears influenced by Microsoft Windows 10 updates. A file requested to be printed following the printing of a previous item can sit in the printer queue for around 20 minutes or so whether deliberately deleted or otherwise. Further requests to print recreate a veritable log jam. A more computer literate family member quickly discovered that the HP driver I had installed had been replaced by a Microsoft variant, and after he removed it and then replaced it with the original HP driver all was well. I have had a number of MS updates since then, and my printer has again reverted to files sitting in the print queue. Are you able to help please?

With kind regards,

Julian Lindley

    Hello Carlo,

I much appreciate your reply, thankyou.

Being retired My nature is to be cautious and do things a bit slower to avoid error. It’s evening here, so I will tackle your suggested route to success tomorrow!

May I ask you additional questions please? My first would be whether your suggested solution overcomes the problem of Microsoft overwriting my HP driver with its Windows 10 updates and it’s own MS printer driver?

    Kind regards,

    Julian

    Good Day Julian,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

Prevent installing driver updates from Windows Update.

Go to Control Panel > System & Security > System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings. Then choose "No (your device might not work as expected).

Once done proceed with these steps.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Printer

-Look for Printer driver that was installed

    -Right click and Uninstall

Once uninstalled, go to this link below and download and install the driver.

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL40...

Once downloaded and installed restart your computer and try to print.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
