Stumbled across your question because I've been having the exact same problem. I looked for solutions online, and I found a suggestion to blow compressed air into the spaces next to the scroll wheel. The sensor over the scroll wheel can pick up dust over time which interferes with the sensor. I sprayed some compressed air in there and, presto, works good as new. Give that a shot (if you haven't already fixed or replaced it).
Mouse wheel "jumps" in opposite direction when scrolling
I bought a new mouse (Jelly Comb MV09F Vertical Wireless Mouse) about 6 months ago, and it was working just fine until about 2 weeks ago. Now when I am scrolling up or down, every few "scrolls" it will "jump" in the opposite direction. It happens frequently enough such that it is pretty disruptive to my workflow, since I regularly use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
It is the same problem from the following two posts:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/wireless-mouse-scroll-jumps-scrolls-in-reverse-a/5b5db18d-0f4d-4f67-b7db-03c179ff480f https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/mouse-scrolling-down-goes-up-slightly/e1a58d5d-684a-47fc-ad9f-d745a15686ff
None of the recommendations worked for me, plus those questions were about Windows 7.
I've tried updating the driver (no update available), plugging into a different USB port, and changing the scroll wheel settings, and none of that worked.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro.
Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm Kevin B. Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.
Is there any changes made on the computer before the issue started?
Kindly perform the steps below and check if it helps
Rollback mouse driver on your computer.
Press windows key + X
Select Device Manager
On the device manager, locate and expand mice and other pointing device
Right click on the mouse driver that is currently installed
Select Update Driver
Select Browse my computer for drivers
Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
List of installed driver will be displayed, select an older driver and hit next until the process completes.
Check if the mouse works, if not, try to restart the computer and check again
If the above method did not resolve the issue, kindly try to perform system restore on your computer to reverse any changes which affects the mouse scrolling on your computer.
Perform system restore
-This process will take your computer settings back to an earlier point in time where computer is working fine. If there's any changes made on your computer that removes the service, system restore should be able to fix the issue for you. To perform system restore please follow the steps below:
- Open the run box by pressing the Windows key + R and type rstrui.exe
- Once system restore windows open, normally it will suggest a restore point (sometimes it doesn't) if it does, select the 2nd option and hit next
- Select your desired restore point date and time and hit next and finish.
Windows will going to restart your computer to initiate system restore. System restore might take several minutes to complete depending on the current speed of your computer and the changes it will made. Applications and updates that was installed on the computer prior to the date selected will be removed. It is important that when system restore starts, process must not be interrupted.
DISCLAIMER:
System Restore is a recovery tool for Windows that allows you to reverse certain kinds of changes made to the operating system. System Restore is used to return important Windows files and settings—like drivers, registry keys, system files, installed programs, and more—back to previous versions and settings. Being said all applications and changes made prior to the date selected will be removed and needs to be re-installed if its needed.
Hope this will help and have a bless day!
Thanks.

2021-08-04T17:04:38+00:00 Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. I tried going to an older driver, and that did not help.
Then I did a system restore, but the oldest date it went back to was 7/19, and I'm not actually sure if that was before the issue started.
I can't think of any specific changes I made right before the problem started.
Also, I tried the mouse on a laptop and the problem did not occur.
Any other suggestions from anyone, or should I just bite the bullet and get a new mouse?
Thanks,
Jason
