Bluetooth mouse freezes intermittently since the May Windows 10 (ver. 2004) update

Ever since this update my Bluetooth mouse continues to freeze for a few seconds intermittently. I own a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse and

Microsoft Modern Bluetooth Mouse and the problem exists with both. Tried a Logitech Pebble and again, the same issue. I've tried the troubleshooter

  • it solves nothing. Tried to update drivers - nothing. Restarting Bluetooth - doesn't work.

No matter what attempts to resolve this problem I have discovered, they have all failed.

Can someone help me with this?

    This is a summary of the Potential solutions I found in this thread. I am not sure which one would work the best or work at all:

    DISABLE BLUETOOTH POWER SAVE

    Press Windows + X and select Device Manager

    There you will find the Bluetooth adapter

    Right click the adapter and select Properties

    Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"

    Click Ok

    MOUSE REGISTRY HACK

    Add the following keys at this location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_8087&PID_0026\5&2816b067&0&10\Device Parameters

    "DeviceSelectiveSuspended"=dword:00000000

    "SelectiveSuspendEnabled"=dword:00000000

    "SelectiveSuspendSupported"=dword:00000000

    ENABLE MOUSE POINTER TRAILS

    Go to Settings > Mouse

    Click "Additional Mouse Options"

    Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

    Check the "Display Pointer Trails" box, you may also want to set the slider to short

    Click Ok

    DISABLE ENHANCE POINTER PRECISION

    Go to Settings > Mouse.

    Click the "Additional Mouse Options" option

    Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

    Uncheck the "Enhance pointer precision" box

    Click Ok

    SCREEN & SLEEP OPTIONS

    Press Windows + X and select Power Options

    Set the power option to NEVER for screen and sleep

    The Bluetooth mouse worked fine and worked fine for years before the May update. It's baffling, given the amount of reports made regarding this issue, that Microsoft have still not resolved it. Even their most recent Windows 10 update doesn't address it.

    My suspicion is that this is "working as designed" (or the drivers have a deep-seated bug) as I have not found ANY useful advice on how to fix it. Lots of advice to reinstall drivers, which no one has ever reported as being helpful, at least that I have run across. There is lots of advice because lots of people report the same problem.

    Bluetooth can inherently disconnect and reconnect and I suspect this might be what is happening.

    I have read that this problem does not occur with wired mice or mice that use a dongle.

    Other advice is to uncheck the "let the computer disconnect" option but I have not seen this option for quite some time. (Others report that the option is shown but is greyed out. Even when it was available I don't think it helped.

    If the above is all true, Microsoft should make a statement and tell people to stop wasting time and energy with the snake-oil advice that is so prevalent.

    I use a Logitech mouse. I hate to give it up because I really like the tilt-wheel sideways scroll. I have not seen any useful advice from Logitech either.

    Hi I don't know if this will help but I had this problem on a customers computer repair I was doing and he had the same issue using his Logitech Pebble. its not a fix but when I turned on display pointer trails under Mouse Settings -> Advanced Mouse Options -> Pointer Options it stops the freezing. I have to leave the trail ON in order for it to work but I came across this and wanted to share

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your help, Daniela, but I've done this numerous times. There is no update, it's why I am here. Literally nothing I have done, nothing I have found going through pages and pages of search results remedies this problem.
