Error Something Went Wrong 0x801901f4 in Microsoft Store

I have a brand new laptop. I want to install Google Chrome, as the pre-installed MS Edge is blocking me from downloading any non approved MS apps plus some websites (despite them being https). In order to do this I have to switch out of S mode, however when accessing MS Store to do this I get the error message 'Something Went Wrong 0x801901f4'. I have spent several hours trying every fix I can find posted online in the help forums (including this one) but nothing anyone suggests is working. In fact some of the fixes suggested I am not even able to try as for some reason my laptop doesn't have the functionality to do it. For example I cant seem to be able to put the Command Prompt back on the windows menu as the option is missing on the taskbar settings in the Personalization section of the Settings menu. There are also a couple of other suggested fixes which come to a dead end for similar reasons. I'm reaching out to this forum as a last resort, as without being able to get the S Mode disabled, the laptop is of not much use so will have to be returned to the store.

So I took the laptop back and purchased another one; different make , bigger memory, different processor. The first thing I tried when I set it up was to switch out of S mode and guess what?... i was getting the exact same problem! I tried all of the step suggested above again and each time it was exactly as before. I wasn't able to sign into MS store on the previous laptop and I cant on the new one either. Both times I got the same error message. If I cant sign into MS store , how do I get the app to enable me to switch out of s mode?

Thanks , I tried that before as well but it had no effect. The laptop is brand new (1 day old), its never had anything downloaded or saved to it so I'm not sure how anything could have been corrupted? Unless it was faulty from the start?

I understand, let's do our best to solve this, I've seen problems like this that were only solved after a system restore, do it this way:

-Recovery to replace corrupted files on the system:

    Access:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Click 'Download tool now' > run MediaCreationTool.exe > proceed with the Windows installation until you can select 'Keep personal files and applications' wait, when finished, restart your PC and test. Everything will be kept, your applications and files, only the system image will be reinstalled.

    Regards,

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!
See all solutions about store, try to exit S Mode after each one:

    Exit S mode:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/swi...
a4ndy: This is where the original error message gets generated from

-Solve problems with Microsoft Store, test if resolved after each solution:
    1-Windows+i> Update and security> Troubleshooting> Additional troubleshooting> Windows Store Apps> Run Solution.
a4ndy: tried this before but there are no apps to troubleshoot listed in the right hand pane.
    2-Reset the Microsoft Store cache
Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run dialog box, type wsreset.exe, and then select OK.

    Note:
A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close and Microsoft Store will open automatically.
a4ndy: tried this several times before but with no effect
3-Check the Microsoft Store Install Service
Press the Windows Key + R and type in services.msc.
Find the Microsoft Store Install Service and double click, If the status is Running, right click it then select Restart
If Disabled, change it to Automatic, click Start and click OK.
a4ndy: tried this, but still get the same error message 'Something Went Wrong 0x801901f4' after pressing the 'Get' button in MS store when attempting to switch out of S mode
    4-Reinstall the Microsoft Store app
    Press Windows key + X
    Click and Run Windows PowerShell(Admin)
Copy and paste the command below then hit Enter:
a4ndy: the 'Run Windows PowerShell(Admin)' option is not listed on my Power menu so unable to do this
    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Restart your computer.

Hi Claudeir, thanks for the reply but none of those solutions work for me (see my comments in bold above). I had tried them all previously when I was looking online and, as I mentioned, nothing I found was having any effect. Is there anything else I can check?
