Whiteboard app not exporting high quality SVG

Hello,

I was hoping to export a high-quality image from Whiteboard after I spent a while putting together notes for school. The PNG file does not provide high enough resolution to read the notes. When I try to export a .SVG file I can create the file, but when opening it I get this error in browser "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

There is nothing below that.

Is there any way to fix this problem or does Whiteboard just not support exporting larger files? This issue may make me want to try and find a new notepad app for my Surface pro. If anyone has recommendations for a better app let me know!

Thanks,

Nick

    Hi Nick,

Sorry for the inconvenience the problem caused for you.

Based on your description, when you try to open the SVG file you exported via Whiteboard, an error will pop up. However, I tested it on my side, there was no problem(I am using Edge).

Here are some suggestions, and I hope they can help you:

    1. You can try to repair/reset Microsoft Whiteboard to check if it works. You can go to Windows Settings>Apps & Features>Microsoft Whiteboard>Advanced options>select Repair/Reset button.
    2. You can perform a clean boot in Windows to determine whether a background program is interfering with Office program.

If the problem persists, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further:

    1. Which browser are you using? If you open the file with different browsers, will the same problem happen?
    2. If you create a small whiteboard and export it, will the same problem happen?

    Appreciate your cooperation in advance.

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

    Hey All,

Microsoft hasn't been helpful with this problem yet - but I think I might have find a solution. While saving your export, rather than just typing the name you want as: filename, type in filename.svg (despite the fact that the saving format already appears as SVG on the bottom). This seemed to work for me.

    Cheers!

    Hi Jazlyn,

I am having the same problem Nick described above, with the error message "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.".

I have recently performed a clean Windows reset and also reset the Whiteboard app as you suggested. Also worth mentioning that before my Windows reset, I didn't have this problem. I use Mozilla Firefox and MS Edge. Both apps give the same error message, and when I sent my whiteboard save to students, they experienced the same problem. No problem with the .png format as Nick mentioned.

    All the best,

    Carlos
