DCP7065dn printer software installation on windows 11

I'm having problems installing software from Brothers site for printer on windows 11 system (Version21H2 os build 22000.434) for DCP7065DN printer on wireless network. No problem in the past on other machines.
1st prompt shows "Error occurred during installation. Please restart your PC, then reinstall Brothers software. ISO52-install network driver. - tried that but same result.
2nd prompt shows "Operation could not be completed (error 0x800f0214). The specified path does not contain any applicable INFS)

New laptop is a Galaxy Book Go which came with Windows 10 - I had upgraded to Windows 11. After having tried to install printer software, I reinstalled Windows 11 hoping to get rid of any possible corrupt printer files. However same error code comes up part way through the printer software installation.

I am at a loss. I need some help.

Thanks.

Did you try installing software in Compatbility Mode?

If it's a wireless printer then the software should install whether it's detected or not, then walk you through connecting printer to network to find and finish installing it. Maybe you should unplug it from router.

There may be information about your model from Brother that can help here:

If necessary you may need to contact Brother Support here:

If they don't help then try the Brother forums here:

    Hi Greg,

First of all, thank you for for help. Normally this would be a straight-forward process, but I've reached a snag that I can't solve.

I'm addressing the issues in order, as you presented them in your response.

Yes, the windows driver was from the Brothers site for the particular model. In fact I downloaded the full Windows 11 software package.

Re: 2019 firmware - downloaded it and tried to install, but prompt arose "machine not found"

    Steps:

1)Printer is not connected to my computer. It is connected to router via Ethernet cable. I want to use WiFi to access printer.

2)Settings>Apps>Apps and Features - no printer (Brother) app is in the list.

3)Remove all of the old printer drivers - My laptop is new, no printers/drivers previously installed. Only printer drivers that show are:

        Microsoft Print to PDF

        Microsoft Software Printer Driver

        Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4

4)Control Panel>Devices and Printers. Only printers showing are Microsoft Print to PDF & Microsoft XPS Document Writer

5)Download Software - I had done this right off the bat. That's when I first saw the prompts - "Error occurred during installation. Please restart your PC, then reinstall Brothers software. ISO52-install network driver."(from Brother software) & "Operation could not be completed (error 0x800f0214). The specified path does not contain any applicable INFS)" from Windows.

Tried to reinstall software, but same result. I even downloaded and reinstalled the Windows 11 OS in case there may have been a corrupt file (but I not sure if that would have gotten rid of corrupt file)

I am wondering if the software during installation cannot find the printer because something may have gotten screwed up with the IP Address. This is where I am out of my league.

Again, Greg, thank you for your help.

Hi Paul. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Are you using the WIndows 11 driver from here:

    https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.as...

There's also 2019 Firmware that may need installing to printer first via internet.

I would Clean Install the printer which always works, lasts longer and actually saves time.

Windows still needs the full feature software to properly run all the features of a printer/scanner, just the driver is not enough, and the new apps are not developed enough to be fully reliable.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Power up the printer, if wired unplug it's USB cable from PC.
    2. Go to Settings>Apps>Apps and Features to find and Uninstall any printer software.
    3. Use these methods to remove all of the old printer drivers:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/101274-unin...

If you receive an error that printer driver is in use, try these steps:

    https://techjourney.net/failure-unable-to-delet...

    1. Now type Control Panel in Start Search, open CP, choose Icon View. In Control Panel open Devices and Printers, right click printer to delete Printer and any scanner or fax of the same name. Restart PC.
    2. Go to the printer model’s Support Downloads webpage to download and install the latest full software package. Now is also the time to check for any newer printer firmware to install which matters a lot. See how to upgrade firmware here:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_17766...

    1. Extract Printer software, right click Setup file to Run as Administrator. Follow the setup screens closely as you install the software. For USB it should prompt when to plug in the printer.

Older software may need to be installed in Compatibility Mode to run correctly:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-non-...

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-olde...

If you have further problems reply back with results of each step.

Once it's installed and you've run a test print, then scanned it to see that it opens on the desktop, open the Printer software and go into its Settings to set the scan-to file location you prefer, also the email app you want opened for Scan to Email, if applicable.

Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
