I pressed a picture that started to download immediately, but I can't find it in my download folder

Hello,

About ten minutes ago, I was on Google Images, and I pressed a picture simply to enlarge it, yet it said "downloading," which shocked me. I then looked in my download folder but didn't see anything that downloaded today or even this past month. Is it possible that the picture did download with a virus and just didn't appear in my download folder?

I have Windows 10.

Thanks,

Daffy D

Hi DaffyDuckKangaroo, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

It is definitely not a virus. You mentioned that's in Google images, correct? If the "Downloading.." appears under the image, it only means that the image is in the process of loading properly. It is downloaded temporarily as a cache but it doesn't mean that it is saved as an image file on your computer. The image could be large that's why it displays that. If it is indeed downloaded, you should be able to see it in your Downloads history in your browser and the only way to download an image in Google images is to right-click then select Save image as. :)

    Hi Paulo,

Thank you for your quick reply. I looked in my "Download Folder" in "File Explorer," and didn't see anything, but I didn't check the download file in my browser -- it never occurred to me to do that because I didn't even know one existed, so thank you again for enlightening me; however, I can not check the download browser file now because after pressing the picture and seeing "download," I reacted immediately and cleaned all my cookies and cache, etc. from my Edge browser -- not sure why I thought htat would do anything, but that's what I did. Now I'll never know, but I will assume you're correct that the imaged did not download.

    Best,

    Daffy D
