Uninstall Realtek HD Audio drivers.

I don't like the Realtek drivers. I want them gone from my laptop. Here's what I've tried so far:

  1. Uninstall from Device Manager: But the Drivers get automatically re-installed somehow.
  2. Remove permissions to the Realtek folder at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek". Nothing, other than me, as has access to this folder. But still somehow the Realtek drivers get re-installed on reboot. I don't understand this magic.
  3. So I decide to look into how it got installed even after I deny permissions, so I find this:

And now I don't know what to do. How to uninstall this Realtek driver and keep it that way?

    Hi Dave,

Yes I tried, I finally got it working by installing old drivers from some other source. This was the ALC3220 audio codec drivers from Realtek themselves. And I got the required option, some images about the driver details and the option I was searching for:

But before I could properly check if everything is working well, yet again windows installed newer drivers. I contacted someone else using an HP laptop and they have this option by default. So I guess it is just an issue with Dell Devices. I think it is better if I try this with Dell's support.

    Hi Shashivardhan Vadyala,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

if your system has a Realtek Audio chip on the motherboard, then you need the Realtek drivers installed for your system to produce sound, uf you uninstall those drivers, Windows will continually re-install the drivers.

If you uninstall Realtek, do you still have audio on your PC?

if you do, then in Device Manager, rather than uninstalling the device, choose to disable the device, that will stop Windows re-installing the drivers.

    Hi Dave!
I need my internal speakers(in-built laptop speakers) and headphones to be detected as different devices. As an example, the following image shows two devices:

    1. "Shoutbox Stereo" which is a google home mini connected to my laptop through blue-tooth.
    2. Realtek(R) Audio which represents two things, my Sony Wired Headphones when connected through the 3.5mm jack or the Internal Speakers when there is nothing inserted into the audio jack.

    Image

What I want is my Sony Headphones and Internal Speakers to be detected as two different devices(I hope I don't need to explain why?).

You might want to skip reading the next because it's only my research and not the actual problem. From my research, I know some stuff:

    1. This is possible with Microsoft's basic drivers. I know this because when I uninstalled the Realtek drivers through device manager, I turned off the internet and rebooted, then I had the Microsoft Drivers installed after reboot. Then I could select the playback device as I described above. But when I turn the internet on again the Realtek drivers get automatically installed. To back me up I have someone else with the same case, from where I actually got the idea to turn off the internet and reboot.
But it seems impossible to keep the Realtek driver from re-installing.
    2. So another solution for this would be to "Disable front panel jack detection in Realtek HD Audio Manager" which supposedly does the work according to many sources. But in my case, the official Realtek HD Audio Manager is replaced by a skinned Dell Audio Manager which does not feature this option.
One solution to my problem would be to find a way to install the original Realtek HD Audio Manager, which again seemed not possible in my machine even after extensively searching through the web.
    3. I have tried various ways to solve this among which a few are: this , this and as already mentioned, this

Now, I would appreciate any kind of help.

I will try to add any kind of information to this thread that I find here on out. And will also add other stuff that I've tried in the past whenever I remember them.

I uninstalled the Realtek drivers already, and run my system with the "High Definition Audio Device" driver from Microsoft. But whenever I reboot or even just connect with the Internet, the Realtek audio drivers are automatically downloaded and installed. I saw somewhere else too that disabling should work. But if I disable the device I don't have any sound. So I felt if I find a way to stop Windows from downloading and re-installing Realtek, then I would be able to use the Microsoft drivers.
And yes, I think I have a Realtek Audio chip on my Motherboard as far as I know, but the Microsoft Drivers work fine, just that they are replaced by Realtek unnecessarily.

    Hi Shashivardhan Vadyala,

What may work for you is, right click the Realtek Audio in Device Manager, choose Properties, then select the Driver tab and click 'Update Driver'

Then choose the option that allows you to find a driver on your PC, and on the next window, uncheck the option to show compatible devices.

You should then have a full listing of available drivers and choose that Microsoft audio device you want to use.
