Error on installing KB5008212

Hi everyone,

It's been over ten consecutive days since I started receiving 2021-12 cumulative update for Windows 10, Version 20H2 for x64-based system (KB5008212). Although, this update was downloaded 100% , just as any other similar updates, but has been failing to be installed by My Windows OS which runs on a 64-bit structure with 19042.1387 build and Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0. The error code shown in all ten installation failures is x800f081f. So, to resolve this issue, I have tried many ways that was recommended on Microsoft and other website, but so far I have not been able to fix the problem and keep receiving the same update. Could you tell me if there is anything that I can do to solve the problem with installation of this update or, at least, stop downloading it.

Thanks for your help,

Reza Pouyafar (Niazi)

I've been struggling with this problem since 30 December. For the past 11 days my resources get eaten up at 100% disk utilization EVERYDAY just when I sit down to do get some work done. Suffice it to say, I haven't been productive at all this new year and it has been extremely frustrating.

I have set my active hours from 7am to 9pm, yet the machine ceases up whenever it feels like and even basic things like browsing the internet is not possible. I get to create new tabs or even scroll pages after a lag of 30-40 seconds.

Viewing my update history, I see that the "2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 21H1 for x64-based systems (KB5008212)" is the one that is creating all the problems.

The system has tried to install it and failed over 10 times with the error:

Failed to install on DD/MM/YYYY -0x800f0905

    Hi,

It took me a few days to do parts of the recommendations you had made, and I did it a few times, but so far I have not been able to solve the error issue.

I even download the update from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx and tried to install it manually but still failed to install. I believe that since it shows the error code x800f081f, this cumulative update is intended for Windows 10 version 21H1 and 21H2. So, for the time being, I have paused receiving updates. Thanks for your help anyway.

Cumulative update for Windows 10, Version 20H2 for x64-based system (KB5008212). - Fix

Even i had the same issue and had many failed attempts. Finally i downloaded Windows Update Assistant here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The Windows Update Assistant took about 6 hours to update my windows 10 and finally fixed it for me without any error. Hope this helps.
