Making a hotspot from Ethernet connection doesn't work ?

Hello, I got my PC under W11 connected with Ethernet, not with Wi-Fi because it's a little too far so it doesn't receive the signal.

When I click on making a hotspot in the network settings, it creates one, but once created I cannot access it with my phone or anything, it just looks like the hotspot doesn't exist, Is this normal ? (tried to manually add the network in the phone settings, it didn't work.

Can I even create a hotspot from an Ethernet connection ?

Sorry if there are translation errors, I'm French.

Thanks for any help !

    Hi Daitan9,

Thanks for reaching out here at Microsoft Community.

It sounds like your hotspot from Ethernet connection doesn't work. Don't worry, the following methods could be used to troubleshoot:

    1. Make sure you are enabling by the steps in this link | Use your Windows PC as a mobile hotspot (microsoft.com).
    2. Press Windows key + R simultaneously > Enter: regedit and hit OK to open the regedit editor > Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WlanSvc\Parameters\HostedNetworkSettings\ > Delete the following key:
HostedNetworkSettings > Restart your device then try again.

     3. Run the Network adapter troubleshooter:
Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Scroll down, select Network adapters > Click Run the troubleshooter > When complete, restart to see if it works.

    1. If the problem is still there, try to reinstall the network driver:
    • Press Windows key + X > Click Device Manager > Expand Network adapters > Right click your adapter > Click Uninstall.
    • Exit Device Manager then restart your device. Windows 11 will re-detect them and reinstall them.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance. And wish you a happy new year.

    Salut,

Yes that's what I'm talking about but I don't get an error when I activate it, see :Image

Apparently I should have something else than Ethernet in the second box, according to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-your-windows-pc-as-a-mobile-hotspot-c89b0fad-72d5-41e8-f7ea-406ad9036b85#WindowsVersion=Windows_11 .

    Image

The hotspot seems activated, and the Wi-Fi isn't connected which is normal because I'm too far away from the internet box.

BTW this reply also applys for Lynnn's answer, tried all the things in your post but none worked out.

    No.

When using Windows 10's built-in Mobile Hotspot feature, both checkboxes on the Sharing tab must remain unchecked or the mobile hotspot will not work. Uncheck that checkbox and then confirm by pressing OK. Close everything, go to Settings> Network & Internet> Mobile Hotspot, disable / re-enable mobile hotspot and check if it works now.

Please specify if you are using Windows Firewall / Antivirus or Third Party Firewall / Antivirus.

Don't worry, I understand the error message even though it's written in French.

    Hello,

Well I just got a long Ethernet câble, nothing more. My house isn't that Big but I still can't receive Wi-Fi in my room so I linked my computer to the Internet box with a 50 meters long câble.

Should I clarify something else ?

(Just give me two hours, the Time I get back home to try to connect to the hotspot with WiFi direct option from the phone.)
