Hi EckigerLuca,
Thanks for querying in Microsoft Community.
In order to provide you with better assistance, I would like to understand your situation better:
What app do you refer to that its Play/Pause key randomly stops working?
Based on the fix you've tried, the following solution can be applied further:
- Temporarily close the third-party security programs and optimization software that may exist under the system (with firewall nature), and perform a clean boot on your system: Press and hold Windows+R > Enter msconfig > Hit Enter > Click on Services > Check to hide Microsoft services > Click Disable All > Reboot the device, and confirm if the problem solved.
- Hold down Windows + X and open Apps & Features > Find and select the app you'd like to fix > Click Advanced Options > Reset > OK.
- Hold down Windows + X and open Device Manager > Expand Display Adapter > Select the graphic card > Click Properties > Uninstall > OK > And then access the brand official website to download the latest version of graphics driver to install it to your Windows.
- Also, Press Windows + I to launch Settings > Click Updates & Securities > Check and update your Windows to the date.
Moreover, if any concerns related to VM, it is more appropriate to be posted in IT Pro docs.microsoft.com forums. You can click Q&A to post your question.
Feel free to keep me posted how it goes.
Best Regards,
