I'm trying to make a USB that can run a file but it ain't working. I believe that functionality was removed and I want to enable it again. Before anything, yes; I do have autoplay enabled and it asks every time and I have checked. I was wondering how do I enable the feature to open a program when you plug in a USB?

    Hi Damian

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Microsoft deliberately disabled Autorun.inf files because that was a major way that malware was spreading form PC to PC, when users inserted a CD, or USB drive into a PC.

Open the old Control Panel, at the top right of the old Control Panel, set View to icons

Open Autoplay, then scroll down to the 'Software and Games option, set that to 'Install or run a program form your media'

Save that setting, then restart (not shut down) your PC

Check if your Autorun file will run when you insert the disk, if not, they must have that totally disabled now in Windows.

It didn't work. They must have disabled it. Thanks for the help!
