Windows 11...Definition Updates

Since installing Windows 11 from Windows 10 in early Nov. last year...everything works very well except that Security Intelligence Updates for Microsoft Defender Antivirus...last updated on the 4th. Jan...after consistently updating every day since installation... KB2267602 (Version 1.355.1392.0) is the last update received.

Secondly...occasionally my Mouse pointer locks...and nothing I do can resolves it...I have to switch Computer off at and restart it...no problem...it up and runs OK.

PS...strangely it locked when I started this posting...after restarting... all I had typed had gone so had to do it all again...

Have I a solvable problem with this?

My system is an HP All in One and I use a wireless Keyboard and Mouse.

Any Advice will be very much appreciated.

Being a very Senior Citizen...my Computer is my window on the world and is very important to me. Am I worried over nothing or have I a problem?

Thanks. The error code is undocumented. Can you try Resetting Windows Security once and then check for updates?

Hi Summit....Ran the HP tool you suggested....did not report anything untoward.

However, In Windows update under 'Optional Updates' ( which I have tended to ignore because they were optional) there were 4 for HP...so I downloaded the 4...and one of them seemed important in that it required a Restart...It was 'Writing new BIOS Image' and took about 5 minutes to install...any comments on this?

At the moment ...the computer started up as usual after the restart and everything is normal...fingers crossed...will let you know if the 'Freeze' re-occurs.

Any solution on the Security Updates? checked this morning and Computer still stating that I am UpToDate...last one 4/1/22

    Regards,

    FMR

    Hello Francis,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

I am more concerned about the mouse lock up issue as we can fix the WU one later. Two possibilities are there when you say locking:

    1. PC completely locks up, and even the keyboard is unresponsive to the commands like Ctrl+Alt+Delete. In that case, we call it as a freeze.
    2. Your computer works, but only the mouse does not. (In that case, you can try plugging out the USB receiver and try using a different port as a first step)

Let me know which case is it for you so that we can pick up the troubleshooting from there.

    Looking forward.

Thank you. Freezing is usually a hardware issue.

Have you run diagnostics on the computer? HP diagnostic tool can be found here:

    Good luck!
