How to Capture Windows 11 BSOD Dump File

Hi,

After many, many hours wasted attempting to get support to help, I am going to post my question here in desperation.

I am getting constant BSOD running Windows 11 on Dell Optiplex 7460. The BSOD message doesn't stay on screen long enough to see the error. I have searched C: for *dmp and found nothing. I've searched the web but cannot see how to enable creation of dump file so I can diagnose the problem.

Windows 11 has been installed for a few months. All software and drivers are up to date. Tried a clean install to no avail. Have run chkdsk several times with the /switches I need.

Can anyone tell me how to create a dump file or find the one I already have?

Thanks

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

    Follow these steps.

Open Windows start menu and type: control panel

    Press ENTER

Select System and Security > System.

Select Advanced system settings, and then select the Advanced tab.

In the Startup and Recovery area, select Settings.

Make sure that Kernel memory dump or Complete memory dump is selected under Writing Debugging Information.

    Restart the computer.

Has your problem been solved? i'm having the same exact problem.

I had the option changed to "complete memory dump" but i'm still having the same problem.

I also noticed that the memory dump file "MEMORY.DMP" doesn't exist (at C:\Windows)

Thanks very much for your assistance, "Automatic Memory Dump" was selected so I have changed that to "Complete Memory Dump" and rebooted. I'll see what I capture next time I get a BSOD.

    Thanks again.
