Hi,

How do I shuffle the slideshow in Windows 11? I can start a slideshow, but it shows the images in order. Also, I can't pause the slideshow or change its speed.

In previous versions of Windows, I could just right-click to adjust the slideshow, but my doing that in 11 just ends the slideshow.

Greg, let me try to help. Please explain to us exactly what part of "How do I shuffle the slideshow in Windows 11?" you do not understand. Then we can help you understand the question. Then you can try to give us an answer that is not an utter waste of everyone's time.

Looks like MS nerfed the slideshow...

Well I solved the problem by downloading a simple slideshow app. I don't get it. There are tons of free slideshow and image viewers out there and it's just not a complex problem. Why can't MS do it right? (For a long time their shuffle would only show a portion of the folder files. Now, of course, it won't show any...)

The link you provided just explains how to use the Windows 11 Photo App, but does not explain how to shuffle photos when playing a SlideShow.

I just started a slideshow in 'old' Photos under Windows 10. Easy and instant - as easy as from Windows Explorer via Picture Tools - except that I don't seem able to change the speed.

A few days ago I made the mistake of accepting a free download of Windows 11. No Picture Tools any more in Explorer. Trying to run a slide show in 'new' Photos, apart from it seeming over-complicated, all I could get was stills.

I have been able to Go Back to Windows 10, and will need a live run-through of an example run from a regular user-defined folder, not somewhere in Pictures, before being convinced Windows 11 has all the functionality and usability of Windows 10.

Is it all about making the operating system more device-independent? Most advice about slideshows seems to relate to moving wallpaper. I don't really need that or Windows on a phone.

I posted a similar question some months ago. Had a few replies, mostly about the background screensaver which was not what was needed. A user called Beanpoleuk posted a link on youtube with instructions for simply reverting to the old Windows 10 explorer within Windows 11. It worked, I can now select multiple folders with images and shuffle the slideshow as we could in W10. Not only that, it speeded up the whole system.

    The link is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmE9fUq0Fao

I have had no trouble since doing it and am completely happy with the result. Seems the answer was there all along but somehow not easy to find.

    Hope that works for you.
