Hello, I'm Louie, and I'm happy to help you today. Hope you're doing well and safe there. I'm sorry that you're having trouble with screen mirroring.

You may try the solutions provided below.

Fix 1: Make sure the network sharing feature is enabled on your computer

The Cast to Device feature requires the network sharing feature turned on your computer. See how to check if you turn on the network sharing feature on your computer:

Type network in the search box from Start. Then click Network status from the top.

    Click Network and Sharing Center.

    Click Change advanced sharing settings.

Make sure these two items are checked: Turn on network discovery and Turn on file and printer sharing. Then click Save changes.

Try the Cast to Device feature again to see if it succeeds.

Fix 2: Reset the Stream Permissions on your Windows 10 computer

Type media in the search box from Start. Then click Windows Media Player on the top.

Click Stream > Allow Internet access to home media…Then click Allow Internet access to home media on the pop-up window.

Click YES when prompted by User Account Control.

    Click OK.

You should then see the Windows Media Player window again. Click Stream > Turn on media streaming…

    Click Turn on media streaming.

    Click OK.

It should then be back on the Windows Media Player window. Click Stream. You should then see Automatically allow devices to play my media... is ticked on. If not, tick on it.

Close the Windows Media Player window.

Try the Cast to Device feature again to see if it succeeds.

Fix 3: Updating the wireless network driver

Press Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, type “devmgmt.msc” and press Enter to open up Device Manager. If prompted by the UAC (User Account Control), click Yes to grant admin access.

Once you’re inside Device Manager, expand the drop-down menu associated with Network Adapters, then right-click on your Wireless network adapter and choose Properties from the context menu.

Once you’re inside the properties screen, select the Driver tab and click on Update driver.

From the next screen, click on Search Automatically for updated driver software. Wait until the scan is complete, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version available.

Restart your computer and see if the issue has been resolved once the next startup sequence is complete.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind ,

    Louie

I'm sorry if the steps didn't work. It seems that the issue is complex than what I expected.

It may be best if I release your question to other advisors so they can take a look at it and let them share some other ways that can fix the issue.

You take care and keep safe always.

    Sincerely,

    Louie

    Louie -

Thank you for the guidance. Sadly, these changes did not resolve the issue. I've check for updated Network and Screen drivers, checked for any new versions of Windows and updated some firmware drivers. Still not working. Any other ideas?

hi SMG. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

    1. Try these fixes for screen mirroring not working:

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here which I would install now so it's ready:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

    1. The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it is sometimes not enough. So let's try everything possible to get it working correctly:

First make sure you have updated the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS/UEFI firmware (very important), network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

If necessary first remove the old driver using DDU https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&... (not necessary with Microsoft Basic driver which is a placeholder if nothing else is available) and/or install in Safe Mode with Networking (so you have internet), or Safe Mode, accessed by one of these methods: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&...

If new driver still won't install DDU see Lightning Leon's Answer here: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&...

If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&...

or the Nvidia Geforce updater here: https://www.nvidia.com/nl-nl/geforce/geforce-ex...

or the AMD autodect utility here: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

Adjust the screen resolution until it fits and looks best at Settings > System > Display.

Then if objects are too small, adjust their Scaling in Settings > System > Display. Start at 125% and if that's not right do a Custom scaling.

Check for WIndows Updates to see if a new monitor driver is delivered based on changes made to Display driver.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Report back results for more steps if necessary.
