Hi,

I own a ThinkPad X1 carbon 5th generation with Intel core i7-7500U processor running Windows 10 pro 21H2 version. Technically, all my hardware is listed in the supported list on Microsoft website. But the PC HealthCheck app gives me an error saying my processor is incompatible. Please refer to the screenshots attached. I would like to know how I can install Windows 11 given the circumstances.

Thanks.

    Hi Benny,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That list in your screenshot is for Windows 10 version 21h2, your i7-7500U processor is not on the supported list for Windows 11.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

Microsoft were testing and adding some more processors, and did add some to the list, they indicate they have now completed testing, and no more processors will be added to the official list.

It is possible to install Windows 11 on an unsupported processor using the Windows 11 ISO, I have Windows 11 installed on an unsupported Core i7 7700QH processor and Windows 11 runs very smoothly, however Microsoft advise you do not do that, they will not be liable for any problems caused by doing that and also you would not receive Windows 11 updates, however, everyone that has installed Windows 11 on an unsupported processor is still receiving updates.

Another option would be to contact your PC manufacturer to see if that processor can be upgraded.

The i7-7500U nor 7500 are listed on the official list so no it is not supported: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-supported-intel-processors

You can install Windows 11 anyway if you want it.

    Good afternoon BennyJose1

It's worth checking with the "PC Health Check App" to make sure that your laptop is fully compatible with Windows 11.

To download the app go to; Upgrade to the New Windows 11 OS | Microsoft. Once downloaded run the app.

If the Laptop is compatible can update via windows updates or through the update tool.
