"No Audio Output Device is Installed" after latest update

Hi all -- I've seen this topic elsewhere, but following those steps didn't help me so I figured I'd start afresh.

I am getting the message "No Audio Device is Installed" and cannot set up or listen to any sounds, either from my speakers or my USB headphone. This appears to be related to the recent Windows updates but I'm not 100% certain.

I purchased a USB Sound Card to see if that would bypass the problem, but no luck there either.

I have uninstalled the sound devices several times and reinstalled them. I've tried uninstalling the Windows updates, but I couldn't roll back KB5009543 even after using the command line "WUSA" command.

Any help is appreciated -- thanks!

    Good Day AllGoodNamesAreTaken,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, if issue perists even after repair install, this can possible hardware issue, you can bring your device to a local technician near you and have them check the hardware components of your device.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

Thanks Carlo for your help -- it can also be that Windows screwed up my sound devices, given that the only change between when my sound worked and when it didn't was a Windows update, and given that I purchased a USB sound card to try and bypass the problem.

So I'm going to still presume a failure of the OS or related software (my antivirus causing hardware problems, for instance),

This absolutely shouldn't be a driver issue since USB headphone and system speakers, etc are different drivers. They couldn't all possibly be messed up.

Either your Windows install is messed up or something somehow is blocking it from seeing audio devices such as 3rd party AntiVirus application making trouble as they often do.

Windows by all means should be seeing something if its working properly and not being blocked. I haven't see this issue with the latest update and even the current preview so something is wrong on your end.
