"That didn't work. Make sure your Bluetooth device is still discoverable, then try again."

So, I downloaded some driver updates earlier today, cause Driver Easy was nagging me about it, and ever since, my Bluetooth Headphones and Earbuds won't connect. I can pair them, and they show up on the screen, but the subject message shows up every time. I've tested them with other devices, such as my phone, and they're working perfectly fine. But not for my laptop. I've got an Acer Nitro 5, since it seems relevant. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

Kindly run the Bluetooth troubleshooter first: go to Start > Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Bluetooth > select Run Troubleshooter.

Another option is to reinstall your Bluetooth driver to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Click on Start and search for "Device Manager" > open it.
    2. Click on the arrow beside "Bluetooth" to expand it
    3. Right click on the listed adapter and select "Uninstall device". Tick the Delete the driver software for this device check box > select Uninstall
    4. Perform a reboot and go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates to reinstall the driver.
    5. Go back to the Device Manager > Click on the Action tab > select "Scan for hardware changes", and check if it will scan and reinstall your microphone driver.
    6. If it didn't reinstall, go to your device manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers for your machine.

Note: You may temporarily turn off the bluetooth on your other devices before pairing to isolate the issue

I also suggest that you perform the additional steps on this article to further troubleshoot the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14169/window...

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine.

    1. Download the media creation tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win... (click on "Download tool now") and wait for the download to finish
    2. Temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus, then open the tool and select the option "Upgrade this PC now".
    3. Wait until your machine goes to the process of repair install. There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
