No Microphone Levels Showing in Output (Windows 11)

Hello everyone,

I've had an issue related to seeing the "Microphone" under "Levels" when looking at my headset settings. On my home computer (still Windows 10) I was able to manipulate the microphone volume in the Playback settings, which allowed me to have some mic monitoring (just so I could hear myself talk with my headset on). The above picture I got off the internet, but it's pretty much what I'm able to see on my home PC. However, with my laptop being on Windows 11, it doesn't seem to allow this option. Instead, this is what I see as shown in the image below:

Is there possibly a driver I need to install? I know there's the option to "Listen through this device", but it has a quite a bit of delay and I've never had to use it before. I'd greatly appreciate any possible help. :)

    Hey Rodrigo,

Thank you for the reply! I am able to access that, however it causes a massive delay between me talking and hearing myself (which makes it hard to talk). Instead, there used to be an option to enable the mic when in the Playback settings (so not the Microphone settings). From there, I could change mic levels and better hear myself talk.

    Hey Rodrigo,

Ah okay that makes sense, thank you for providing an answer. :) I noticed it's something a lot of people also deal with, so having some clarity helps a lot. What would be some options to provide some mic monitoring without having to use "Listen to this Device"?

I get it, unfortunately, this option depends on the audio processor and its internal connections (even all of them being made from Realtek), and it varies from device to device. I got these mic settings on playback on my computer too, but not on my laptop, both on Windows 10 with the latest drivers.

The sound from the "Listen" option gets some delay because it is processed, not the case of the option on Playback.

There are some options to minimize the delay and get some decent monitoring, but they are not easy as the option you want, if you want to know more about it, I can guide you.

Did you find your audio input on the recording tab?

    Hi mn582,

I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.

To check your microphone options and levels, open Settings > System > Sound > More Sound Settings > Recording Tab > Double click your audio input device and you will see the Listen tab where you can activate the "Listen to this device" option
