Any way to prevent game scaling to full screen?

Intel probably recently did some changes in their graphics driver settings and now if your laptop resolution is set to 1920x1080, there's only one option available - Maintain Display Scaling.

You can't select "Maintain Aspect Ratio" or any other option like you could do 1 or 2 years ago.

Now problem is, whenever I play any game in full screen with 1024x768 resolution, it stretches to full screen. What I want is black bars on left and right so game doesn't stretch.

The only solution is to first set desktop resolution to 1024x768 and then change scaling option to Maintain Aspect Ratio.

But it is tedious. You have to change desktop resolutions every time you play and exit the game.

So is there any other solution or workaround to somehow override what this Intel's new feature is doing?

    I think you did not understand my problem. I don't want to change screen resolution to my desired resolution. It is tedious. Just think about it. You have to change screen resolution every time you play game and when you exit you have to revert to default.

    Instead I need some solution to stop the display scaling to the edges on left and right irrespective of what my acreen resolution is. In my case it is 1920x1080 and Intel app doesnt have Maintain Aspect ratio option. They removed that option and it is available only in lower resolutioms.

    But it gives the opposite of what I want? I mean he is showing a solution to remove the bars? In my case I need the bars i.e., stop the scaling.

    Hello vikaskumar2299, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    Interestingly, most users want to remove the black edges of the screen;

    You can change resolution settings only in the Intel Graphics application;

    Open Intel Graphics;

    Click Screen;

    Change the resolution to the desired one;

    Under Scale, set "Keep Aspect Ratio";

    Start the game;

    However if you use another screen resolution for the desktop you will have to change these settings every time you play;
