Secure Boot: I am already running windows 11, but secure boot is disabled, and I cannot enable it

I am using a Lenovo legion I7, I upgraded to windows 11, now regretfully, when prompted by my computer. The process worked fine, and everything seemed to work without issue. Only when I tried to play a game which requires the activation of secure boot did I realize something was wrong. Now, when I go and look up secure boot, almost all the articles are about how to enable it in order to upgrade to windows 11, leaving me perplexed as to how I could be running windows 11 without having it enabled.

I have been into my BIOS and tried to enable it multiple times. I can find the setting, but there is no option for me to switch anything, only Secure Boot: Disabled. I have been in contact with both Microsoft and Lenovo support and both have told me that I should contact the other to solve the problem. Aside from factory resetting my computer, and or reverting to windows 10 (which would delete all my personal files), I'm not sure what I should do from here.

    Hi JackDuhon,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I'm Mosken, I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

According to your description, I knew that the system prompts you to activate secure boot when you play a game after you upgrade win11, you see the entry of secure boot in the BIOS, but there is no option to activate. If my understanding is wrong, please correct me in the reply.

Under normal circumstances, you can focus the highlighted entry to "Safe Boot" in the BIOS, and then press Enter, a pop-up window will pop up containing "Enable", "Disable", etc. You can use the up and down keys to select, then Press Enter to confirm your choice, and finally, save your BIOS settings, and then restart the computer to see if it is normal.

If the above solution is not credible, please take a photo of this page in the BIOS and attach it to the next reply.

I wish the above will be helpful to you. Please feel free to let me know how it goes, and I will do my best to help you.

    Best Regards,

Mosken - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
