Hello,

I have recently this problem and i cant find a fix; i don't know where i got it but what i actually have is this "Service Host : DCOM Server Process Launcher (5)" in my task bar and it's consume almost 70% of my CPU.

I checked the detail of that service and i found svchost.exe with PID 612 which consuming all of that CPU

Afterward i opened CMD as admin and checked "tasklist /svc" to see what is the problem and here's the problem :

BrokerInfrastructure, Dcomlauncher, PlugPlay, Power, SystemEventsBroker

Those are the services that consume the majority of my CPU; Of course i tryed disabling them but i can't via the services; when i end the task in Task manager my PC shutsdown automatiquely.

Could you help me please.

    Hi Abdel,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

Please try to disconnect all USB devices and see if this helps.

    Repair system files by

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

command from Windows PowerShell (administrator) environment.

Create another user profile and check if the problem persists in this profile.

Please try to uninstall third party antivirus and any other security tools if you have one.

Analyze threads of this process in Process Explorer tool, may be this will give some clues.

At least to me it might be normal and just something running in the background. I don't know if anyone really has any good answer. I certainly don't.

You could definitely do the don't keep anything reset or a clean install. I'd clean install personally just to factor out anything else. But, you shouldn't install as much as possible after that and install one thing at a time per day or week maybe. So that you can keep an eye on it.

Though, dcom isn't anything I've ever gave any attention to and my computers are all fine so I don't know if its a question about nothing or there's something here.

    Greetings Igor;

Thanks for your reply; i just tryed this fixes but unfortunatly doesn't work, still have the same problem.

I disconnected all my USB; lanched the repair system file with the command "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" in Windows PowerShell (administrator) (i received @100% that it was successfull) but still doesn't work; And of course, i tryed a new profile to test, but still the problem persiste on that new profile.

Also i have run a virus check on "ESET: Malware Protection & Internet Security" and says that my computer is clean.

Do you think if i reset all the windows the problem would be fixed? or should i do something else? cause i already made a reset via Windows settings (while still keeping my documents, only a windows reset) but what i figured out, is after the new reset of windows, the problem is fixed for like 1 hour, after 1 hour, i still get the problem again, when i try to update windows.

Do you have any idea, and thanks for the help
