Dell Wireless Keyboard WK118 not working post update to Windows 11 21H2

Hello

I have Dell Wk118 wireless mouse and keyboard which was connecting using dongle prior to Windows 11 Cumulative Update for 21H2.

After update, mouse still connects fine but keyboard is no longer working. I can see the HID Compliant Keyboard under device manager, but it's not working i.e. keys are not functioning.

I've tried sfc /scannow, it doesn't reports any violations.

I've validated that keyboard is working on my another Surface laptop. On Surface as well, once I installed cumulative update, keyboard stopped working.

Any pointers?

sfc results:

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Regards

Ajay Kundnani

I suggest you give feedback while you wait for the update to make the developers aware that maybe a lot of people are having this problem.

You can press WIN+F for feedback.

No problem Kirk, I understand. Quick update, I installed following KBs on 9th March but issue was not resolved in these updates:

    1. March 8, 2022—KB5011493 (OS Build 22000.556) (microsoft.com)
    2. KB4023057: Update for Windows Update Service components (microsoft.com)

Thanks Kirk for response. Wanted to check if it is a known issue with a workaround available perhaps instead of rollback?

If it is not a known issue, want to ensure it makes it in the fix required backlog.

I would prefer to wait for a fix than rolling back as I might lose security updates or features, since on-board keyboard is working ok, it's not critical.

    Hi AjayKundnani,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have encountered the problem that the keyboard cannot be used after installing the 21H2 cumulative update of Windows.

Sorry for the impact on your usage. It may be that there are some incompatible updates in these updates, you may need to uninstall the update temporarily or temporarily stop using this keyboard.

Here's how to uninstall the update:

1- To uninstall the update you must enter safe mode | how to enter safe mode |

2- Press win+R, enter and run "control"

    3- Uninstaller

    4- View installed updates

5- Select and uninstall the update you want to uninstall (some patches cannot be uninstalled)

Restart the computer after the uninstallation is complete, set the settings to temporarily stop the update, and wait for the subsequent patch to fix this problem.

    Your understanding is highly appreciated!
