SATA DVD Rewriter Driver for Windows 11

I have an old DVD Drive (Hitachi HL Model GH50N - ROM Version B100) from an old desktop that I am trying to use on my new Samsung Book Pro 360 running Windows 11. I have it connected using a USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD cable.

The notebook will not recognize the drive when I plug it in. The drive bay will open and close, lights up, etc., but the drive is not visible in File Explorer.

What am I doing wrong? Is this the wrong cable? Do I need a special driver? Thanks in advance!

Each properly installed and properly operated device should be presented in Device manager regardless of driver installation.

Your device is absent in Device manager so seems it is improperly connected. Can you try another USB SATA adapter?

And please check carefully all devices in Device manager, may be there was different driver installed and device is mentioned under improper name.

Thank you Igor, I found that the power provided thru the SATA cable I had was not sufficient to run the DVD drive. I purchased another connector that has independent power supply and that solved the issue. Thanks for the help.
