Dual Monitors stopped working

Hi there!

My dual monitors were working absolutely fine until about a month ago.

Now one monitor is connected via HDMI and the other is connected via HDMI> DVI adapter.

The both worked without a problem. Until my PC stopped recognising the monitor on the DVI connection.

Now the ONLY way to have ANY working monitor is to have the DVI cable unplugged from the back of the PC.

To be clear, this means when i have my HDMI monitor plugged in and i then go t6o plug in the DVI monitor, BOTH monitors stop working and are undetectable.

This has left me with only the use of one monitor, as I can't even identify a second display since I can't plug it in without it switching both monitors to inactive.

Nothing has changed in my hardware or software, I have all up to date drivers and windows updates, even an update for one of the monitors software.

I just physically cannot identify or use the other monitor as as soon as I plug it in, Blackness!

Sometimes this decides just not to happen and i get full use of both monitors but there is no rhyme nor reason why sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi LisaMac_094 -

I'm Kevin B., I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

Kindly try to rollback the display adapter driver on your windows computer and check if it helps

    Press windows key + X

    Select Device Manager

On the device manager, locate and expand display adapters

Right click on the display driver that is currently installed

    Select Update Driver

Select Browse my computer for drivers

Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

List of installed driver will be displayed, select an older driver and hit next until the process completes.

Restart the computer and check if the same issue appears

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

    Thanks.

    Kevin B.

    Hi LisaMac_094 -

Thanks for the response and I do apologize if the method did not work on your windows

Kindly try to perform a system restore on your windows computer to reverse any changes made.

    Perform system restore

-This process will take your computer settings back to an earlier point in time where computer is working fine. If there's any changes made on your computer that removes the service, system restore should be able to fix the issue for you. To perform system restore please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the run box by pressing the Windows key + R and type rstrui.exe
    2. Once system restore windows open, normally it will suggest a restore point (sometimes it doesn't) if it does, select the 2nd option and hit next
    3. Select your desired restore point date and time and hit next and finish.

Windows will going to restart your computer to initiate system restore. System restore might take several minutes to complete depending on the current speed of your computer and the changes it will made. Applications and updates that was installed on the computer prior to the date selected will be removed. It is important that when system restore starts, process must not be interrupted.

    DISCLAIMER:

System Restore is a recovery tool for Windows that allows you to reverse certain kinds of changes made to the operating system. System Restore is used to return important Windows files and settings—like drivers, registry keys, system files, installed programs, and more—back to previous versions and settings. Being said all applications and changes made prior to the date selected will be removed and needs to be re-installed if its needed.

    Regards,

    Kevin B.
