Laptop battery stops charging every few seconds after update

Dear community,

I had two updates back to back on my Windows 10 laptop (KB4023057 and KB5011487). Immediately after, the charging would stop after a few seconds. I had to physically unplug and re-plug the AC which would then restart the next charging round that lasts for a few seconds. I changed the power option settings, changing the "reserve battery level" from the then default 9% to 100%. The laptop now would charge for a few seconds, stop charging for a split second, and start charging again. This cycle is on repeat. I believe I somehow manged to replace the physical plug/ unplug with a software version of it.

I would like to find out how I can fix this problem permanently, which I am very sure arose from the Windows update.

Many thanks to all,

J

    Hi Carlo,

Thanks for your suggestions. I had previously uninstalled/ reinstalled the ACPI-Compliant Control Battery based on suggestion in another thread. That hadn't worked.

I ran the troubleshooter and the diagnosis came back all OK. But after the troubleshooter, the problem seems to be resolved! Thanks so much Carlo!

    Best,

    JoeyXW3
