If you uninstall the update that caused the problem, does this situation persist or does it remain the problem?
All (audio) playback devices are gone after update to Win 10 21H2
Hello,
after the update of Win10 to 21H2 I no longer have any audio. The drivers are installed for the Realtek sound as well as for the sound via the Nvidia video cards. The divice manager also shows audio inputs and outputs but if I go to sound settings the master volume is 0 and no output device selectable. I have reinstalled the Realtek drivers without any luck.
My mainboard is an Asus Pro WS X570 ACE with AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and onboard Realtek® S1220A 8-Channel High Definition Audio. I have the rear line out connected and also tried the from output with headphones.

I am not big into Windows stuff, any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Jan P

2022-03-16T07:15:46+00:00 Hello Paloma,
none of the above helped. I have in fact tried all of the above except the dxdiag step. That reports "No sound card was found". The computer is build from components, I have installed the drivers provided by Asus which is the mainboard make with the onboard sound device. Please see the output of msinfo32 below as well as a screen shot of the device manager.
Kind Regards
Jan P.

2022-03-16T03:02:27+00:00 Hello, how are you?
My name is Paloma B., I am very happy to be able to try to help you in the best possible way.
I understand that you have audio issues on your laptop, sorry to hear that.
Could you share your computer model? Press Windows+R, type msinfo32 and click OK, when opening the info window, send me a printscreen please.
Anyway, I suggest you run the checks below.
First, based on your equipment model, go to the manufacturer's website and download compatible and updated drivers, and reinstall them. Follow the guidelines on the link below, please.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402844...
Verify that the problem is resolved.
If the problem persists, please follow the next guidelines.
I recommend that you follow the guidelines on the official link below, please.

If the problem persists, proceed to the next guidelines.
Important: at the end of each method, check if the problem has been solved. If it persists, proceed to the next one.
Method 1 - Troubleshoot sound problems
- Right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar;
- Select "Solve Sound Problems";
- Run.
Verify that the problem is resolved.
If it persists, proceed to the next method.
Method 2 - Use Device Manager to fix audio problems in Windows
- Press WIndows + X, select Device Manager;
- Expand the "Sound, video and games controllers" tab;
- Right-click on the "High Definition Audio" device;
- Access "Properties" and in the "Driver" tab choose the Update Driver option, and Windows 10 will start the process.
If the Update Driver option does not solve the problem, repeat steps 1 to 4, and in the "Driver" tab, select "Uninstall Device".
Then click on the sound icon, and wait for it to detect problems. A new window will open, choose the first option and click Next. Wait for the system to detect problems. The system will ask you to restart the PC.
Verify that the problem is resolved.
If it persists, proceed to the next Method.
Method 3 - Test the audio card
- Press Windows + R to open the Run window;
- Type
dxdiag
Select Ok.
- Click Sound and test DirectSound.
The system will test whether DirectX is working, but how you will use the sound card to test it, if it is not working, it will not be detected by the system.
Go to the Sound tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. If your sound card does not appear in this tab, it means that it is not working, and you will need to take your computer to a service center for further testing.
I await news.
