Lost my files after system restore

I recently had a problem with Windows where everything I had previously (files, apps and more) disappeared so I searched online and was suggested to restore my system using 'System Restore'. I did so and I got most of my stuff back except I can't find anything in my images folder. In the Photos app, they showed up temporarily but then afterwards disappeared and won't come back. What do I do to get them back??

    Dear ChimiChungus,if you were not able to recover the files with the video method, I inform you that it will be very difficult to recover them;

    However, you can try to perform a system restore again by choosing the oldest date from the restore points;

    • Press the “Windows+R” keys now type RSTRUI and click “OK”.
    • Click on "Show more restore points" so that more options for restore dates appear and then choose a point with a date when all the files were still on the machine;
    • Proceed through the screens until the restoration starts and completes.

    Note: System Restore will leave the computer the way it was on the date you choose, that is, if a program was installed after the date you chose, the program will not appear installed after the restore, and so on. Files and personal data are not lost, such as documents, music, videos, photos, etc.

    See you soon!

    Hey LuizScruz,
    Thanks for the greeting!
    I tried out the method in the video but I still can't seem to get any results. Is there any other way you could suggest or are my files just lost?

    Did you also use this from Microsoft? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/windows-file-recovery/9n26s50ln705?SilentAuth=1&wa=wsignin1.0&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

    There's literally no guarantee you will ever get the files back. The best chance is to stop using the drive and send it in to a drive forensics company for a quite nice chunk of money. If they're that important then its what it is. And yet still no guarantee that they will get a single file. That chunk of money could be a waste.

    Really, you should run automatic backups with at least two backup applications so you have multiple backups if one fails, the other(s) should be working. Then nothing at all is a problem there ever again :-)
