chkdsk corrupted 1st boot sector of my external USB 1TB hard drive. Now I get this message "The type of file system is NTFS. The first boot sector is unreadable or corrupted. Reading second boot sector instead. Unable to determine the version and volume state. CHKDSK aborted" Windows says the drive is unreadable and wants to format the drive - I had 600Gb data which I do not want to loose!! Q: How can I repair the 1st NTFS boot sector so I can recover data on the USB drive???
