Removing the Message “CHECK CABLE SIGNAL”

I have tried to post the following question on monitor forums, but my IP address was blocked, perhaps because it is in Russia, and some websites block the connection. Therefore, I post the question here. Perhaps someone has the answer.

When I used my old VGA cable with the monitor, the screen was black after I powered off the system unit. But after I have replaced the old VGA cable with the new one, the screen is not black when I power off the system unit. Instead, the message “CHECK CABLE SIGNAL” keeps on moving on the screen:

Does anyone know why this message began appearing and how to disable it?

It means that the PC is not sending any image to the monitor. The manufacturer wants you to know the problem is not their monitor, but the source of the signal instead.

I would ask the monitor manufacturer's Support why the message appears when there is not problem getting the signal, whether it's normal, and if not how you can suppress it.

Every monitor is different. For example I have a newer Samsung curved 28" monitor that has a blue light that blinks when the PC is turned off. The only way to turn it off is to toggle the power switch on the back of the monitor, so I just leave it the way it is. My TV has a No Signal message that rotates around the screen when I turn off the cable box to let me know that I haven't turned off the monitor power yet.

On many newer LG monitors, there is a single joystick button that performs all the functions of your five buttons. The joystick is located at the center-bottom of the monitor. See pic. If you have five buttons, you don't have a joystick. You could just press & hold your power button instead (which performs the same function as if you press & held the joystick button).

Regarding your screen message, I understand that you just changed from an older to a newer cable, but have you tried another different cable? If the monitor wasn't flashing the message with your older cable and is now flashing the message with the newer cable, it seems like it might be a cable issue.

Thank you. The given links list various possible causes, including a malfunctioning graphics card, a bad cable, or some hardware problems.

However, my monitor, the graphics card, and the system unit work well. There no hardware problems. The “No Signal” message appears only when the computer is powered off. The monitor works when the computer is running. Previously, there was no “No Signal” message when the computer was not running.

Do you know what the cause of the “No Signal” message may be?

Thank you for the information. For some reason, the message “No Signal” started appearing after I had begun using another VGA cable. It had not been appearing while I used the older cable. I thought that the appearing of the message is not normal. Perhaps I will have to ask the LG Flatron monitor support about how to prevent the message from appearing.
