I can't set InDesign (.indd) or (.idml) as a default app on Windows computer. Which is odd because other Adobe apps work like Photoshop and Acrobat and Illustrator.

    Thanks Neil.

Unfortunately, I cannot see Adobe InDesign in the list of Apps to choose from. Can you help me with the next step? Thanks very much

Hi Shirley, my name is Neil, and I'm a Windows 10 user like you.

I find the best way to set a default App for something is by file type and doing it a specific way.

Please follow these instructions and see if they work for you:

Right click a .indd file and hover your mouse pointer over "Open with" then from the pop out menu (ignore the list of apps) click on "Choose another app".

See if you can see "Adobe InDesign". If you can, before you click on it, check the box at the bottom next to "Always use this App to open .indd files" and then click on "Adobe InDesign".

From this point on, .indd files will always open with Adobe InDesign.

Follow the exact same procedure for .idml files.

Now, if you cannot see Adobe InDesign in the list of Apps to choose from, let me know as there is a little bit more to do.

Let me know how you get on.

    Kindest regards,

    Neil
