Windows 11 Touchpad Not working even after factory resetting

On a Lenovo Ideapad 5i pro I recently purchased for my sister, the touchpad randomly stopped working a week later and does not show up. I’ve checked and it’s a code 10 on the I2C HID device. I’ve done everything it said online to do to try in fix it, solutions including deleting the device and resetting or trying to reset the Bios. None of it worked and I just decided to factory reset it in hopes that it would hopefully work again and it would just be like nothing ever happened… and yet it did work and the touchpad still doesn’t work. People also said download new drivers for it and there no available drivers for the touchpad on windows 11. It is very frustrating and it feels as if I got scammed because there feels as if there is no way to fix it.

I had the same issue on a Lenovo Legion I5 10th gen. Tried all the suggestions online and nothing worked. Updated Bios, reinstalled drivers, turned touchpad on and off in windows settings and changing the touchpad setting in Lenovo Vantage - nothing seemed to work and so I gave up and assumed it was a Windows 11 or hardware fault and I just had to use a mouse.

Eventually I happened to look at the logos on the function keys and noticed one looked like a trackpad with a diagonal line through it which was on the F10 key on my laptop.

I tried holding down Fn and pressing F10 and immediately the touchpad began working again!!!

My cat sometimes walked on the keyboard and must have turned off the trackpad, doh!

Hope someone finds this of use.

    Regards,

    Gibberfish

I’ve tried that and It doesn’t work in the Bios menu but a usb does work on window and the bios. I’m hoping it’s not broken. If you don’t mind me asking, I got a two year warranty but if I want to use it will I need the original package or no. I no longer have to e package but I clearly payed for a 2 year warranty when I purchased the computer.

The model is the Lenovo Ideapad 5i Pro 16 inch. I’ve already tried doing that method you’d said about”browsing my computer for drive”… nothing shows up and there’s no drives available on the computer. I already tried looking for downloadable drives but it doesn’t show any for this model. If you could find one I’d appreciate it but I’m scared it won’t fix the problem.
