I recently updated my network windows 10 computers and I believe that windows update KB5011487 has caused the network computers to lose connection to a shared printer, which was accessible before the update. I tried to uninstall the update, but Windows says it is a required and cannot be uninstalled. I also tried to go back to an earlier version of windows, but that was also unavailable. What else can I try?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.
You just got affected by an old bug :) This was a big problem for network shared printers way back in September. Please do the following which hopefully should resolve the problem.
You need to add the Registry key on both the Client and server.
Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the taskbar and choose Run.
Type regedit
Press Enter.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print key, create a new DWORD-32 bit value named RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled, and set it to 0, and restart your computer.
It, however, does not prevent your device from a security vulnerability discovered recently.

Thank you, Sumit.
I tried adding the registry key, but only on the client computer, not the server!
I would try that, but I found another way to fix my problem... I moved the printer to another computer, downloaded the most current driver from Canon for my D1600 printer, installed it, connected the printer to the other computer, and voila! I was able to connect all the network computers to the other computer and they all were able to print a test page.
Maybe I should have updated the driver on the original computer. I didn't think of that. I was convinced it was the update that caused the problem, because it happened twice before with other updates, and I was able to uninstall them and get the printer working with the network computers again. This time though, I could not uninstall the update and I was really going nuts.
I guess I will never know if it was the driver or the original computer, because I will leave well enough alone.
Best wishes,
Michael
