My Files with photos in them are not opening as a JPG?

Hello there

So for about a week now I have had this problem where my files which have photos in them are always opening as a Webp images instead of an JPG, I cant seem to view them on windows Photo app. I download files on google chrome but the photos wont open in the windows photo app I have looked at different app options but I cant seem to find Windows photo app as an option??, Usually the files open in as a JPG,PNG and etc I hope You can help me with this.

    Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

    Just to clarify, did you also make any changes to your machine before encountering this issue? Have you also tried to rename the extension of the file to .jpeg?

    Another option is to open them in MS Paint, then convert/save it to .jpeg format. You may also refer to the additional methods on this article as well:

    If that didn't work, perform a reset of Microsoft recommended defaults:

    Go to Windows > Settings > Apps > Default Apps > scroll down and click on Reset under "Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults".
