When I transferred Windows 10 from a HDD to SSD I created an image using Macrium Reflect, created their boot USB, swapped the drives, booted the laptop with the boot USB & restored the image. No problems with speed.
Installing a new ssd on Dell Inspiron 17 7000 laptop 7773
So I'm planning on buying a samsung ssd for my Dell Inspiron 17 7000 laptop 7773 which came with windows 10 already installed on it. Do I have to do a clean install of win. 10 again? because I read on this forum that windows or dell detects your hardware, meaing you don't have to install windows 10 all over again. Is this true?

Yes, you have to clean install again on the new SSD, to make the best use of its speed on the system.

Cloning is another way to transfer the OS but don't keep the old drive available at the same time until after you clean the old drive.
Win 10 Activation is handled online once that system has been Activated. So, if you wanted to do a clean install, that would also work.
