Carbonite support just released the 6.4.1 update on 3/3.
I just reinstalled and .zip files operate as expected in File Explorer.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
My Dell laptop was previously Windows 10, now 11. When I right click any zipped folder, it immediately crashes Windows Explorer, but then everything comes back. I can't unzip any zipped file at all - doesn't seem to matter what size it is.
I was trying to use the built-in unzipper utility in Windows, and when that didn't work I tried a couple 3rd party apps, including WinZip. Nothing works; they all crash, and they crash on ANY zipped file I have.
And by the way if I try to ZIP any set of files - even just 3 little word files, it does the same thing. The screen flashes, all my icons go away for a second. Then things come back, but nothing will zip or unzip.
thanks if you have any ideas!
Christine

Turns out Carbonite is aware of this and has released an update. The newest version is now 6.4.1, which resolves the issue.
You can into your Carbonite account and reinstall from there. I just did and now .zip files work as expected.
I just updated Carbonite Pro to 6.4.1 (build 11) it seems to have fixed the Zipped files, trying to open or move them, from crashing File Explorer.
Thank you!!!! I've been trying to find a solution to this problem for a week now. Kept crashing when trying to open or delete zipped files in Windows 11 File Explorer.
I just uninstalled Carbonite and everything works fine. Now hoping Carbonite will fix the issue.
Thank you for the lead!
I've found another forum that addresses the same issue. Reportedly, downgrading to 6.3.6 resolves the problem, though you have to contact Carbonite customer support to get the installer, though.
I was just on with Carbonite support to get that ball rolling. They uninstalled Carbonite (6.4.0) and upon restarting I was able to interact with .zip files without issue.
Next step is to get a call back from their senior escalation team and see about getting 6.3.6 (presumably) to get my back up process moving again.
