5ghz Hotspot not working

Recently upgraded my motherboard which has a intergrated AX210 wi-fi adapter.  I have been trying to create a 5ghz hotspot, but everytime I do I get the same message:

"The selected network band isn't available. Select a different band and try again"

I've seen this article online but I don't know if this is relavant as I have several other devices that can start a 5ghz hotspot (including a windows laptop with a AX201)

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000029083/wireless.html

I have checked my drivers, BIOS and firmware and they all seem up to date.

I've also messed around with the network band settings on the edit page and the Wi-Fi adapter configuration settings with no luck.

I've tested the issue on Windows 11 and 10 and the issue is the same on both OSs.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Details:

Although I have tried connecting from a hotspot on my phone and laptop

*I am able to create a 2.4 ghz hotspot

    Hi nasher02 ,

Your network card supports Wi-Fi6E (Ultra High Band) standard while the other laptop's network card is different and only supports Wi-Fi6 standard.

So the 2 network cards are different and run a different network protocol. But have you already tried to set Prefferd Band to 6GHz band? Is the result the same when you enable mobile hotspot?

Can your PC connect to your router's 5 GHz Wi-Fi network and access the internet? What is the Wi-Fi standard of your router?

Try setting Preffered Band to No Preference and in the mobile hotspot settings, set the band to Any available.

If the problem persists, try temporarily disabling Bluetooth in Device Manager.

    Hi Franco

The previous motherboard didn't have Wi-Fi, however I have 2 laptops (one work and one personal) and they're both able to start a 5ghz hotspot.

Screen cap of the message when I try and enable a hotspot with 5ghz network band enabled

Currently set to Prefer 5Ghz Band

    Hi Louie

Thank you for the thread, although the issue Nathan was having is slightly different to my own. He was unable to select the desired network band he required. Where as I have plenty of options but any attempt to force a 5ghz hotspot via the options fails.

    Hi nasher02 ,

before upgrading your motherboard, did the mobile hotspot on the 5 GHz band work?

Access the Device Manager, select your AX210 Wi-Fi adapter, click on the Advanced tab, post a complete screenshot of all the available properties of the adapter.

Also, select the Preffered Band option and report the current setting.
