2022-05-15T19:26:47+00:00 Although there don't appear to be any drivers available on the Linksys website, Linksys does say that the WMP600N is compatible with Windows 7: https://www.linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=134963
Various comments on Amazon's page for this product appear to agree with that conclusion.
Interestingly enough, however, there are Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 drivers for the Linksys WMP600N available from Microsoft: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=WMP600N
Although I generally advise against using drivers from Windows Update, it appears that in this case, you don't have much of a choice.
Before you go to the Update Catalog, the following may be a simpler method. Note that I've never had a Linksys wireless adapter on the machine from which the screenshot below was taken. You should do the following from an account with "Administrator" privileges.
- Open Device Manager (click Start, type Device Manager in the Search box, and press Enter)
- Find the entry for your WMP600N. Likely, it will be in the "Other devices" category and show an error icon.
- Right-click the entry and select Properties
- Click "Update Driver Software"
- On the next screen, select "Browse my computer for driver software"
- On the next screen, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
- On the next screen, scroll down and select "Network adapters" and then click "Next"
- On the next screen, scroll down and select "Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc."
- If you find "Linksys WMP600N Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band," select it and click "Next" (see screenshot)
- Complete the wizard to finish installing the driver.
If the driver for the WMP600N is not in the list, cancel out of all of this and use a web browser to go to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=WMP600N
You'll get to a page with 21 entries. The most recent driver for 64-bit Windows 7 was the first one when I visited this page:
Just in case, however, click the link to see the description; you want the one that says "Architecture: AMD64"
Click the "Download" button at the right. The file that downloads is a *.CAB file. You can right-click this file and select "Open" and then copy the included files to another already-opened folder. Or you can download and install 7zip (which is free: https://www.7-zip.org/) and use that to extract the files. Either way, you should end up with a folder including 5 files:
Right-click on the *.inf file and select "Install." The next time you reboot the computer, Windows should install your adapter and you should be good to go.
Or go back to Device Manager, follow the first set of directions above, and when you get to the "Select Network Adapter" screen, click the "Have Disk" button. Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the folder where you saved the extracted contents of the CAB file you downloaded. Select the INF file, and complete the wizard.
If when installing the driver by one of the above methods you get a warning screen complaining that the publisher of the driver can't be verified, click the button to "Install this driver software anyway."

That way you know you are getting the correct drivers.
