You have to upgrade to 8.1 today?

Support for 8 ended in 2016; 6 years ago.

    "Download Windows 8.1"

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8

That's the link we have for 8.1.

If it is not working for yo9u, I suggest that you contact Microsoft.

You used to upgrade 8 > 8.1 through the Store, but that is now closed to 8:

Update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8

Beginning in July 2019, the Windows 8 Store is officially closed. While you can no longer install or update applications from the Windows 8 Store, you can continue using those already installed. However, since Windows 8 has been out of support since January 2016, we encourage you to update to Windows 8.1 for free.

Microsoft "agents" are only in Windows 10, 11 and Other/Unknown forums.

Microsoft and its "agents", who are employed by outsourced contractors, never look at the other Windows forums including the 8 forums.

No one pays us and we have no contact with Microsoft.

I did this just a few weeks ago with 8.1 and it was fine. But, today I see this issue with you. Something with their servers. You will have to wait until its working.

Not much can be done about it. 1% of the time, you can't do something no matter how bad you need it. That's the story of the internet.

Try again in a few hours, tomorrow, next week, some months from now lol. Depends how long it stays that way.

FYI, its best NOT to grab it from somewhere else as it can be injected with malware, etc.

    Bill;

First, applaud you volunteering as a Moderator for answers.microsoft.com

but seems strange you elected to say "We don't work for Microsoft".

Maybe I was wrong to presume answers.microsoft.com was operating under the Microsoft umbrella (answers from Moderators are "agents of" & speak on behalf of Microsoft).

IF that's the case, why didn't you offer to report the problem to Microsoft (Vs tell me to contact Microsoft; I have no idea how to best contact them about this problem anyway)???

IF my presumptions re answers.microsoft.com were incorrect, please enlighten me/us?

FYI, Windows 8.0 is still working pretty well for me but the "I have to upgrade to 8.1 today" is a result of a unilateral decIsion Intuit made.

Guess I have no option but to wait/hope Microsoft will get

    "Download Windows 8.1"

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8

    back up & running soon.

In the meantime, I'm off to figure out how to use Windows Update(s) to (hopefully successfully) upgrade my OS from Win8.0 to Win8.1.

    Thanks

    BeWell
