I have recently started to suddenly have sound problems. I do not think there was any update after the sound problems started to happen. Currently, if something is playing, Windows just doesn't even register that any audio is being played. For example, if I play a video on YouTube on Firefox, at first it'll take really long for the playback to actually start, after it does start, Windows doesn't register any sound coming from Firefox in volume mixer, or any other application for that matter. Firefox even hangs sometimes while playing the video (it's completely fine on other things. I have already tried usual things to no avail. Things I tried:
- Checking if volume is too low or muted
- Checking if the correct audio output is selected (only one available and those are the inbuilt speakers)
- Checking if the speakers themselves are broken (the speakers work fine on the dual booted Parrot OS and also the boot animation which plays sound)
- Checking if any drivers are outdated (all of them are up to date)
- Reinstalling the drivers (uninstalling from device manager and then restarting for Windows to install them again)
- Checking for disabled Windows audio service and also restarting (from services app)
- Updating Windows
- Trying to reinstall Windows with the Windows 10 installer (as suggested by an advisor on a different thread)
- Checking if speakers are somehow disabled in the BIOS (suggested by another advisor on a different thread; there was no option to disable or enable the speakers)
I have already tried all the different methods I could find from this forum and other sources, to no avail.
I cannot figure out what the damn problem is. Please help me.
