Desktop computers not sufficient for Chief Architect Architectural Home Design Software

PC and Mac Recommended System Requirements^5^

  • 32 GB of RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • PC
    • Desktops:
      • Intel i9 / AMD Ryzen 5000
      • 8 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800
    • Laptops:
      • Minimum 15" screen
      • Intel i7
      • 8 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6800M
  • Mac
    • Desktops:
      • Mac Pro
    • Laptops:
      • MacBook Pro 16"
      • Intel i9
      • 8 GB video memory

An RTX 3080 didn't used to be hard to come by. I find the need for an i9 to be hard to believe.

    The Dell XPS does not use an i7-2700K, with emphasis on the "K."

    Moderate game requirements aren't very moderate, here they are for DOOM eternal

    • Recommended:
      • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
      • OS: 64-bit Windows 10
      • Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K or better, or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X or better
      • Memory: 8 GB RAM
      • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB), NVIDIA GeForce 970 (4GB), AMD RX 480 (8GB)
      • Network: Broadband Internet connection
      • Storage: 80 GB available space
      • Additional Notes: ( 1080p / 60 FPS / High Quality Settings ) - *On NVIDIA GTX 970 cards Texture Quality should be set to Medium

    So if you are going to put a GTX card on a machine, I would put a GTX 1060 card on it or forget it.
